From the promontory of the Circeo up to Capo Portiere, beyond the lake of Fogliano: these sceneries merge in a harmonic ensemble, which changes colour form the green of the vegetation to the gold of the dunes; from the metallic light blue of the quiet waters of the lakes, to the grey of the rocks, which open up to the sea with their caves and sea gorges.

You are in the National Park of Circeo.

We are near to the sea. The light breeze brings a scent of salt and brooms, while small groups of birds spy our steps on the dunes, lapped by the waves…

This is not the opening scene of a film. It is much more: we are in the Humid Areas of the Circeo.

The fascinating meeting between coastal lakes, which follow one after the other along the seaside, edged by a chain of dunes, and the canals, covered by swampy reeds and canes, which whisper while they are caressed by the wind.

A little more on the east, beyond the lakes, reigns the forest, which lays on ancient traces of marshes and wild woods, undisputed owners of the plain for centuries.
